Great news, folks in Cincinnati! There’s a great new place to eat near the Kenwood Mall, called Cucinova! Pizza, pasta, salads, all made in front of you, specifically to your order!

This evening, I was lucky enough to be invited to a preview night prior to the public opening of Cucinova, an “urban Italian” restaurant! This is the first location outside of Columbus, and those locations don’t serve the pasta options so carb lovers unite!

After checking in, we all went outside and had the official ribbon cutting ceremony. It was short but sweet, and the crowd was introduced to several chefs and cooks as well as the VIPs! The CEO also told everyone to try everything tonight, that no one should go home hungry.

Once I walked inside and got a good look around, I personally loved the open/fluid layout. The line starts immediately to the right up against the outer wall and it continues around so the seating area is a giant square. The tables ranged from 2 and 4 seat tables to booths, and tall “bar style” tables with stools. There were a few great local prints on the wall, along with several slogans as well as menu choices to review as you were waiting in line.

The first station you come up to is for the pizza, which is probably what they are known best for. The dough is made fresh and in house every day, and the pizza is 10″ which is about 4 slices. The fantastic dough slingers were glad to help explain how the station worked and get our pizza set up. We ordered a “create your own Neapolitan” with red sauce, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and sausage. It was built right in front of us!

The next stop in line is the pasta station. Yes please! Much like the pizza stop, you get to choose your pasta type, sauce, toppings and proteins. For tonight I went with the Pomodoro sauce on the spaghetinni pasta, with dark meat Tuscan chicken and grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Finally is the salad station, and once again, you pick your greens, toppings, dressing and protein and they make it to order, exactly how you want it.

Then at the end, you order any drinks you want for your meal and pay for your order. If you ordered pasta or salad, you already have it in hand at this point. Since their pizzas are baked in a wood stove oven at 700 degrees, they are done in 3 minutes or less!

We took our food to sit down and barely had time to take pictures before we dug in!

The staff was funny and friendly at all of the stations as well as once we sat down. Plus we got to enjoy a wonderful DJ for the evening to provide music as we gushed over the new restaurant and the delicious food we were sharing and devouring.

Price wise? Pizza, pasta or salad all run $6.99, which for us is a great deal. So many choices, and the dish is made just how you want it, including several meat and cheese options, all for $6.99! You can even order online!

We definitely loved Cucinova and will return soon for another meal. Now if we can only talk them into building one on my side of the Ohio River!

We decided to try this place out this past weekend – I was impressed! The kids and I split some pizza and pasta, and I wasn’t disappointed! We tried the Cincy pizza with the garlic sauce, and the basil, artichokes, bacon..yum!!
